Abstract

Vanda tessellata (Roxb.) Hook.ex. G.Don and Pluchea lanceolata (Oliver and Hiern.), generally known as “Rasna species” in India and is popular because of its multifarious characteristics in the folk and conventional system of medicine. The content of very essential bioactive phytocompounds in these plant species makes this species pharmacologically active for the therapeutic uses. Therefore, in the present HPTLC analysis of Pluchea lanceolata (PL) and Vanda tessellata (VT) using the hydromethanolic extracts of roots and leaves was performed for determining the phytochemical profiling.

HPTLC study of hydromethanolic extracts of Vanda tessellata (HMEVT) and Pluchea lanceolata (HMEVT) using root and leaves were determined using CAMAG HPTLC apparatus.

From the HPTLC analysis the outcomes were acquired in the pattern of chromatograms, examined with the wavelength of 254 nm, 366 nm and white light, constituting many number of peaks. Phytochemical profiling of these plant species was ascertained and are showed in the tables providing the complete number of peaks, peak heights, peak area, percent area and Rf values.

HPTLC analysis of hydromethanolic extracts of Vanda tessellata and Pluchea lanceolata using the roots and leaves parts concluded that, a wide array of phytoconstituents which perhaps for its medicinal, therapeutic activity and justifies its classical value in traditional therapeutic use.
