Plant isolates are the naturally or synthetically derived substances from whole or parts of the plant that has characteristic pharmacological health benefit as well as toxins. In recent times, people are now shifting towards naturally grown therapeutic sources as an alternative to synthetic foods or supplements. The concept of sustainability is a trend currently and people want to contribute towards it by preferring plant-based foods in all spheres of daily routine. Due to an increasing demand of natural herbal products to treat, prevent and cure therapeutic complications, the extraction of bioactives has tremendous unexplored future prospects. The extraction of these isolates involves numerous techniques, including maceration, distillation, and chromatography, aimed at obtaining pure compounds with potent biological activities. Plant isolates have proven particularly beneficial in the development of functional foods, which aim to provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition. Incorporating these bioactive compounds into food matrices has been shown to positively impact cardiovascular health, improve immune function, and potentially mitigates the risk of chronic diseases. This abstract provides a comprehensive overview of the extraction procedures employed to isolate bioactive compounds from plants and highlight their versatile applications in enhancing the nutritional and functional properties of food products. The isolation of these compounds allows for the development of novel drugs with improved efficacy and fewer side effects.
