Abstract

A simple, specific, accurate and precise method for estimating Venlafaxine Hcl has been developed and validated using literature data. The Stock solution was prepared by weighing 10mg of venlafaxine Hcl in 100ml volumetric flask with ethanol. The final Standard solution was made to produce 100μg/ml with ethanol. Some dilutions were prepared as per procedure and were scanned at 225nm. The linear graph was found in the 5-30μg /ml concentration range. The correlation coefficient and the regression equation was found to be 0.9976 and Y = 0.0166X+0.0012 respectively. Validation was performed on linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection, limit of quantitation, and ruggedness. The LOD and LOQ (limit of detection and limit of quantitation) for determination of venlafaxine Hcl was obtained as 0.607 (μg/ml) and 1.925 (μg/ml), respectively. The percentage recovery of Venlafaxine Hcl was estimated in the range of 98.6±0.003512-101.4±0.001. Venlafaxine in pharmaceutical dosage forms can be quantitatively determined using the proposed method.
