The goal of the current study was to separate the mucilage from the Bombax Ceiba flower petals and investigate its potential use as a pharmaceutical excipient. Bombax Ceiba flower mucilage is one example of a natural polymer that exhibits unique qualities that set it apart from synthetic polymers. Its desirable features make it an effective excipient for a variety of applications. The process of creating novel excipients is costly, time-consuming, and requires laborious steps. Identifying novel applications for currently available drugs is a less expensive and time-consuming process. Many studies have been conducted on natural gums and mucilages as medicinal excipients. Polysaccharide complexes made of sugar and uronic acid units are called mucilages. The slimy masses that mucilage forms in water are usually composed of several components. Bombax Ceiba flower petals are utilized for a variety of medicinal uses and include a little amount of mucilage. Nevertheless, there are no reports on the identification and isolation of Bombax Ceiba mucilage. Therefore, the goal of the current work is to characterize and isolate the mucilage from Bombax Ceiba flower petals and investigate its potential use as a medicinal excipient. Numerous techniques were tested to separate mucilage, and the most effective, straightforward way was created. The look, smell, solubility, bulk and taped densities, Hausner's Ratio, swelling index, pH, and angle of repose of Bombax Ceiba mucilage were all investigated.
