Abstract

The objective of the present investigation was to design arjuna bark suppositories for the effective treatment of asherman’s syndrome to eliminate side effects that are caused by existing synthetic drugs.

Arjuna Bark has promising anti-inflammatory activity in comparison with the existing nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Arjuna Bark suppositories were prepared by fusion method with the combination of polyethylene glycol 6000 and polyethylene glycol 4000 in different ratios. The suppositories were evaluated for their visual, physicochemical, weight variation, meting point and melting range, hardness, disintegration, drug content, and in-vitro drug release characteristics.

Results of all the parameters were said to be in standard limits. Formulation F5 showed all the results within the pharmacopeial and in-house specification.

The study indicates the possible and effective use of arjuna bark suppositories for asherman’s syndrome as a promising approach for natural anti-inflammatory treatment.
