A pharmacognostic study of a new medicinal plant raw material Padus serotina (Ehrh.) Borkh. leaves from the Russian Federation was carried out. The morphological and anatomical structure has been studied, and the main diagnostic features have been described. A dry extract was obtained from the leaves. A comparative phytochemical study of the leaves and a dry extract from the leaves was carried out. Such substances: gallic acid, catechin, and epicatechingallate in leaves and dry extract were identified with the standards by HPLC. Rutin, quercetin and tannin were also identified in the study objects using TLC. The quantitative content of the sum of flavonoids, tannins and individual polyphenolic substances in the leaves and dry extract of P.serotina leaves was determined. The high antioxidant activity of the study objects is shown. Studies have been conducted and the antimicrobial activity of dry extract of P.serotina leaves against E.coli, St.aureus, Kl.pneumoniae has been studied. The data obtained can be used to study the metabolome of medicinal plants, develop a technique for obtaining a dry extract, and develop regulatory documentation for P.serotina leaves.
