In this study, the anti-inflammatory effects of 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight of methanol and hydro-alcoholic extracts obtained from aerial parts of Flemingia strobilifera, the so-called MEFS and HAFS were investigated in Swiss albino mice respectively. The effects of MEFS and HAFS on the acute and sub acute phases of inflammation were studied in carrageenan induced paw oedema and cotton pellet-induced granuloma methods, respectively. In acute and sub acute phases of inflammation, amongst the two extracts selected for study the HAFS showed maximum inhibition of 37.06, 41.17% (P < 0.01) at the dose of 400 mg/kg respectively. The results suggest that HAFS possess potent antiinflammatory activity.
