Abstract

A simple, rapid and accurate spectrophotometric method has been developed for quantitative estimation of felodipine in bulk and tablet. Felodipine is a long-acting calcium channel blocker (dihydropyridine class) used as an antihypertensive and in the treatment of angina. In methanol felodipine exhibits absorption at 362.4 nm and method obeys Beer's law at the concentration range of 10–100 μg/mL. The percentage label claim was found in the range of 98103%. The proposed method was validated statistically and recovery studies.
