Abstract

A reversed phase HPLC method is developed for the determination of citalopram in pharmaceutical dosage form. Chromatography was carried out on an inertsil C18 column using a mixture of methanol and phosphate buffer (pH 3.4) and acetonitrile (55:40:5 v/v/v) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.35ml/min. Detection was carried out at 254nm. The retention time of the drug was 3.741min.The method produced linear responses in the concentration range of 1050 μg/ml of Citalopram. The method was found to be applicable for the determination of the drug in tablets.
