Abstract

A simple, sensitive, accurate, precise, reproducible, economic spectrophotometric method was developed and validated for the determination of milnacipran hydrochloride in bulk and tablet dosage form. The drug was estimated by using 0.1 N HCl as solvent for this study, which is determined by spectrophotometrically at 223nm. The Beer-lamberts law was obeyed in a concentration range of 2–40μg/ml with correlation coefficient of 0.991. The precision and accuracy of the developed method was confirmed by repeatability and recovery studies validated statistically. The LOD and LOQ of milnacipran hydrochloride were found to be 0.41μg/ml and 1.24μg/ml respectively. The percentage recovery study of the drug for the proposed method were found in the range of 100.24–100.79%. The proposed methods are recommended for routine analysis since it is rapid, simple, accurate and sensitive.
