Various Coumarin derivatives (1a-1f) were synthesized and evaluated for their antipsychotic action using Apomorphine induced behavior model, 5-HTP induced behavior model, Conditioned avoidance response model and Rota rod experiment. All compounds showed significant (P<0.05) antipsychotic activity during study and it was found that target compounds have affinity for dopamine as well as for 5-HT receptors. The compound 1d, N-(6-fluorobenzo [d]thiazol-2yl)-2-(4-(2-(4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yloxy) ethyl) piperazin-1-yl) acetamide has been found to have significant atypical behaviour.
