Abstract

Nutraceuticals are the isolated or purified product from foods, and generally sold in medicinal forms that have aphysiological benefit or provide protection against diseases. Mode of action of nutraceuticals is to provide functional benefits by increasing the supply of natural building blocks in the body. Quality control for the officially and safety of herbal product is essential. Phytochemicals are determined either by identity, purity, and other physicochemical properties. Nutraceuticals as phytochemicals have health promoting, disease preventing or medicinal properties and thus promote the quality of life.
