The present study reveals the result of and phytochemical evaluation on the roots of Vanda roxburghii, which is a species of orchid occurring from the Indian subcontinent to Indochina. The various parts of the plant are used traditionally as antipyretic; useful in dyspepsia, bronchitis, inflammations, piles and diseases of the nervous system. Therefore, an attempt to carry out pharmacognostical studies of plant by various parameters like macroscopy, microscopy, physio-chemical constants and preliminary phytochemical screening was carried out.
