Mangifera indica and Manilkara zapota which are commonly known as mango and sapota are commercially important crops in southern parts of India. Present work aims at evaluating the in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of M. indica and M. zapota by HRBC membrane stabilization and heat induced haemolysis. The maximum membrane stabilization for ethanolic extracts of M. indica and M. zapota was found to be 53.27 and 48.9% and 19.82 and 24.56% respectively. Therefore, our studies support the isolation and the use of active constituents from M. indica and M. zapota in treating inflammations.
