Antidiabetic and antioxidant properties of spirulina-A review

Abstract

Spirulina is a cyanobacterium which has been used as a dietary supplement for humans and other animals. It is loaded with many nutrients which has powerful effects on the body. Spirulina contains good quality proteins, vitamins and minerals and many researches found that spirulina helps to improve brain health and reduce liver fat and protects heart. Many systemic review suggests that spirulina also has anticancer, antiviral and anti inflammatory effects. The antidiabetic and antioxidant properties of spirulina are addressed in this review.
