Plant Profile of Ficus religosa: A Review

Abstract

Ficus religosa Linn. (Family; Morace eae) is used in traditional system of medicine for the trtreatment of several disorders. It is one of the herbs mentio tioned in all ancient scriptures of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unanni and Homeopathy. Various plant parts such as bark, root, leleaf, fruits and latex are used as astringent, Diarrhoea, dia iabetes, haemoptysis, carminative, vermifuge and anti-dysen ntery. It is a good remedy for excessive appetite. It is us sed locally to relieve inflammation of skin wounds, lymphad denitis, in sprains and fibrositis.
