Abstract

Personality is the integration of physical, intellectual, emotional, social and character make up of an individual personality is reflected through behaviour, experience, manners, attitudes, values, beliefs, emotions, aspirations, interest, habits, sentiments, temperaments and traits. Several environmental factors including occupation of mothers have an impact on the personality of their children. The main objective of the study was to find out difference in personality traits between children of working and nonworking mothers. The results show that majority of children of both working and non-working mothers were ambivalent and emotionally balanced. A significant difference was found in extravert and ambivalent traits of personality between children of working and non-working mothers. The study found no significant difference in other personality traits i.e. neuroticism, introvert, emotionally well balanced and emotionally balanced between the children of working and non-working mothers. Teachers should improve the personality of the children in collaboration with their parents.
