Cognition of the visually challenged is an important issue in cognitive science. It covers interdisciplinary fields of study including developmental, educational and psychological aspects. Cultural and social perspectives also demand additional explanation in a separate way. In the present study developmental milestone for preschool children are briefly described in the selective areas like cognitive, sensorial, communicational and social fields. It is important to mention that early development is more critical and any lack in these stages resulted into severe impairments. In school age problems which are faced by visually impaired (VI) students are discussed with proper suggestions. Our educational policies emphasize common curriculum and objective in regular classes for all students. Application of those policies requires special attention in classroom instructions, curriculum development, teaching methods and evaluation process keeping in mind VI either acquired or late blind.
