A Study of Awareness about Hazards of Plastic Bags among the People at Ludhiana

Abstract

The present study was conducted on 100 subjects with objectives (1) to find out the percentage of people aware about hazards of plastic bags, (2) to find out the percentage of people who are using plastic bags, and (3) to find out the various reasons for using plastic bags. It was found that 25.28% teachers, 63.22% students, 8.97% student–teachers and 2.53% non-teaching people are aware about hazards of plastic bags. Results also indicated that 17.43% teachers, 62.77% students, 9.30% student teachers and 10.50% non-teaching people were using plastic bags in their daily lives. It has also been found that the main reason of plastic bag pollution is its supply in market.
