A Study of Academic Achievement of Secondary School Students in Relation to Socio-Economic Status

Abstract

The present study was conducted to find out the relationship between academic achievement and socio-economic status as well as to compare the academic achievement of high socio-economic status group and low socio-economic status group. For this, a sample of 200 secondary school students was taken from the government schools of Ludhiana city. The data were analysed by using Pearson's coefficient of correlation and t-ratio. The major findings of the study are-(a) there exists significant relationship between academic achievement and socio-economic status. (b) there exists significant difference between academic achievement of high socio-economic status group and low socio-economic status group.
