Quality management in higher education has a paramount importance in today's scenario. Almost 90% schools require a check on its quality education, which is provided to the children. Many loopholes and lacunae exist in its prevailing structure at school level, which involves a greater degree of need to set a predetermined process to overcome such bottlenecks. There are many barriers which hinder the process of TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT (TQM) as a resistance to change is a fierce barrier at teachers’ level, poor and inappropriate curriculum design, mismanagement of funds and resources and misinterpretation of TQM philosophy. This article presents some fundamental barriers and a particular process to overcome such barriers. Six Sigma is a particular step by step procedure to monitor the improvement programmes and assess the evaluation criteria adopted by a particular institution.
