Study of Awareness of Cultural Values among Adolescent Students in Relation to Their Gender and Locality

India is rich country with its great culture and its unique values. Indian culture is based on the tenets and principles of spiritualism. Spiritualism stands for moral values, ethics, scruples, virtues and the power to distinguish between right and wrong, between good and evil, between correct and incorrect etc. Tolerance, patience, respect for others, love and affection, dedication, sacrifice and to be caretaker are the values which we learn from our ancestors or elders in the form of our traditions, customs. Infect, Indian culture is unique in the entire world. Unfortunately, the dawn of new era is in a state of shock on account of the dismissal picture of cultural values in Indian society. The modern Indian society is worried about the dangers leading to the unimaginable and undesired sufferings aroused due to the deterioration of cultural values. Usually, we observe that newspapers are flooded with hair raising news like “Mother killed her children”, “Brother murdered his brother or wife”, “Girls gang raped.” “Women killed for dowry” and so on exposing the mindset of the society. This indicates that there is decline in moral, cultural and human values in society. The situation which is being faced by Indian society is very complicated and alarming. We have entered a century full of crisis particularly crisis in character, crisis in credibility and crisis in values which has led the human being to selfishness, hooliganism, violence, destruction, abuse of human rights, gross injustice, frustration etc. Infect we are living in s state of political tensions, economic stress, fear and frustration, exploitation, corruption, disaster, destruction and violence. These are chaos turmoil and disorder in our morals and relations. The present society has indeed become unhappy and unfortunate abode of man. This is due to decline of cultural values in Indian society.
