Design of a Futuristic Dashboard for Indian Hatchback

In the modern era, people from all over the world are looking for a sophisticated living, Car is one of the most luxury product that attracts people. Automobile production is increasing due to need and demand for sophisticated cars. Simultaneously traffic is getting increased due to more number of vehicle usages. Through secondary research, it has been found that 80% of Car Users are spending their time in heavy traffic where they are surrounded by car interiors and it is during this time they start using the gadgets in the car interiors. In this paper an attempt is made to design a futuristic dashboard for Indian hatchback market. This paper is based on the styling of a dashboard which will convey the theme of future with its form and features. In this study existing cars in the Indian market is analyzed and benchmarked. The characteristic of ergonomics design required in car interiors based on international standard and regulation has been studied. New concepts were developed considering the ergonomic features and aesthetics. The final concept can be implemented in future Indian cars. From the literature review, the current trend, interactivity and ergonomic factors of cars dashboard design are understood. The output of the information can be used to make some new design ideas. Few systematic way of data collection like questionnaires, ethnography study is used and measurement of the car existing dashboard dimensions is benchmarked. The final prototype is made and validation test were carried out with the user group and the reseats were satisfactory.
