Air cooler is one of the many house hold appliances which is used to keep the surrounding atmosphere cool and comfortable. The reason for designing Air Cooler for urban is to eliminate any hindrance by cost factor and concentrate for complete functionality and customer satisfaction. The product should be operable as per urban needs, lifestyle and meet the functionality criterions of present Air coolers. Cooling methods for industrial applications like spot cooling, ultrasonic cooling have greatly developed under quality engineering solutions, which industries get. This paper tries to improvise on the existing technology of cooling air by evaporation using a different mechanism to accomplish the same. The mechanism employed is mist cooling of air which is already implemented in various industrial applications. This mechanism and technology is thus miniaturized and optimized for Air Cooler. QFD and PDS are prepared based on the data collected. Concepts are generated according to the PDS, Voice of customers and initial design objectives. A working model of the final concept prototype is made using plywood and carpentry tools. The prototype is tested and validated with recorded videography. The product is successful in reflecting concerns pertaining to voice of customers and initial design parameters.
