Abstract

This paper presents the design and development of an automatic watchstrap packaging machine. The machine utilizes stepper motors and sensors for its operation and is programmed using a programmable logic controller. Incorporation of heater in the machine enables packaging and sealing in the same assembly which reduces the time taken for packing and results in effective packing. Key attributes of the machine are simple design, minimal hardware, light-weight, compactness to ensure easy mobility and high speed packing of five thousand four hundred watchstraps in ten hours. The developed control logic is verified by means of simulation and successfully implemented. Experimental results illustrate the efficiency of the machine.
