Advances in industrial biotechnology offer potential opportunities for economic utilization of agricultural wastes such as Jackfruit seed. However this seed is rich in starch, the starchy substrates like jackfruit seed was used as solid substrate for amylase production. The effect of carbon sources of the medium for the activity of amylase were studied. The maximum activity of amylase from Penicillium sp. was recorded in a medium containing jackfruit seed while comparing to control. Then, the in vitro wound healing activity of amylase enzyme was studied. The enzyme amylase showed good wound healing activity. To determine the wound healing activity, different concentration of amylase was tested on scratch wounds and the effect of amylase on wound closure was determined microscopically. The enzyme amylase showed a significant increase in wound closure when compared to wounded control. From the result, it concludes that the amylase can be used for the development of new preparation for the therapy of wound. Also revealed that the production of amylase enzymes from agricultural waste to make a better environment for utilization of biomass generated in tons annually.
