This article analyzes the export performance of India’s principal agricultural commodities, namely Basmati rice, non-Basmati rice, spices, buffalo meat, and sugar. The objective of this study is to analyze the export performance of India’s top five agricultural commodities using trend data. I will review their export performance, using descriptive statistics to emphasize growth trends, and compute the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) values to estimate the export potential of each product. This research fills the gap by providing a focused analysis of the selected five commodities and evaluating their competitiveness in the global market. India has a significant competitive advantage in agricultural and meat exports, especially in Basmati rice and buffalo meat, maintaining steady worldwide supremacy. Non-Basmati rice and sugar have seen expansion, particularly after policy liberalization and governmental incentives. Basmati rice and buffalo meat exhibit stability, but sugar and non-Basmati rice reveal volatility, underscoring the need for India to enhance trade policy, diversify markets, and optimize production efficiency to maintain export competitiveness.
