This research paper intends to investigate and understand the reinvention of the smart cities concept of Bhubaneswar through the application of IoT and AI for technological innovations leading to sustainable infrastructure. The dynamic spread of urbanization in modern cities necessitates sensible solutions to tackle critical challenges, including transport, health, power, and civil infrastructure. The notion of a smart city is recognized as the new motor for social and economic prosperity, as it is accompanied by the rapid advancement of digital and information technologies. Population growth and urbanization have enhanced the development of innovative methods for managing urbanization while minimizing the impact on the surroundings, residents’ lives, and governance. The initial use of communication and information technology (ICT) in urban activities fostered the notions of communication providers and digitized cities. The concept of IoT established smart cities that automatically assist municipal authorities with minimal human input. Smart cities have evolved as a response to the difficulties that have arisen as a result of the exponential increase in urbanization and population. The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the most promising enabling technologies for resolving these problems, as it creates a massive worldwide system of physically connected objects that are outfitted with technology, apps, instruments, and internet access. This research article has tried to explore the necessity of the application of IoT and AI in the Smart City of Bhubaneswar. The paper investigates the assessment of smart cities and addresses the challenges and opportunities by engaging in descriptive and exploratory studies with tools and techniques for finding disruptive and innovative means of approach.
