Displacement is commonly known as development induced displacement which mainly occurs due to the displacement of a vast magnitude of people from their homelands, soils, livelihoods or all. This type of displacement is usually involuntary and occurs within the borders of a state or country. And it has been experienced that with the growth of civilisation and modernisation this type of displacement -which is defined as internal displacement -and the people displaced thereby are normally termed as Internally Displaced Persons (IDP)-has grown in size and numbers in almost all the countries. Mostly the developing and the underdeveloped economies suffer the most due to this type of displacement. No doubt that this has become a menace in our country which stands at a cross-road of development. Keeping the previous related literatures aside, this paper explores a relationship between this forcible displacement and the women community who gets displaced due to the so-called developmental efforts of either the government or big industrial houses. The result of the study is derived by examining the impact of the displacement on the women and the mitigation measures taken by one of the industrial houses in Odisha.
