Abstract

Globalisation and Media are inseparable and had lead to deep rooted changes in the content as well as the presentation of message. This phenomenon has given birth to a new concept of ‘Global Oligopoly’ which has generated stiff competition among the various firms operating in the market and has no doubt affected the quality of Journalism .Marshal Mc Luhan's concept of ‘Global Village’ highlights that electronic nervous system i.e. media had been rapidly integrating the planet and the various events taking place in one part of the world and making it experience by individuals living in some other part in real-time giving an experience that we all live in a small village. Technological advancements are one of the major components of media globalisation which has helped in creating global audience. Media is one of the powerful tools which help in highlighting problems at the same time providing solution to them. The homogeneity and standardisation of information has lead to cross ownership pattern leading to corporatisation and convergence of media outlets The paper highlights the impact of globalisation on media. The paper will also study how technological advancements have lead to the changes in presentation and content of news and programs and its impact on global audience.
