Promoting teacher education through information communication technology

Rapid development of science, technology, and art makes the role of teachers is becoming more and more important in preparing children, youngsters, and adults, to face the changing world. Many experts argue that teacher is a key factor in the development of a nation. Initial teacher education and training is the programme of studies which leads to qualified teacher status according to the official standards of a country. Teacher Education at different levels of Education: Teacher education reaches teachers at all levels of education, namely Preprimary, Primary, Elementary, Secondary, Higher Secondary and the Tertiary. All countries female teachers are in a minority in primary schools. Many teachers have little more than secondary education themselves. Educational Communication Technologies in ODL Education system creates the positive impact on Students Retention and on Student`s Success Rate. If we use various technologies of e-Learning, we can maintain the quantitative as well as qualitative progress of ODL system. Through this approach we can bring the dream of time relevant, quality assured, student centered Open and Distance Learning Education for the new millennium in reality. All teacher education needs to be oriented towards the ways in which teachers support children's learning and so to the fourth of those functions, of strengthening teachers’ practice in the classroom. The teacher education system empowered by ICT driven infrastructure can have a great opportunity to come up to the centre stage and ensure academic excellence, quality instruction. E-Learning as new stage of distance learning and various schools are running for teacher education different states in India.
