Adolescence comprises nearly half of the growing period in human beings. The term adolescence has been defined by World Health Organization (WHO) as a period of life where a series of varied rapid and extensive changes occur. It is a crucial phase to catch up growth in the lifecycle of girls after infancy thereby attaining importance in improving maternal nutrition and health for betterment of child survival and development. Since adolescent girls are to be mothers of tomorrow, their nutritional status is very important. In the world over and in India particularly negligence of girl child is well known, a boy is given more importance in all aspects.
