Abstract

Traditional method of examination assessment system confronted with bourgeoning challenges owing to Large scale irregularities and error prone valuation of examination papers has invited escalated problem both for the examining bodies and the students community . To address this baffling problem, the Examination Control Board as a matter of exigency has adopted a more efficient assessment tool such as electronic valuation (e-valuation), instead of traditional method of manual copy corrections system. Keeping this aspect of use of ICT for an error free evaluation the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha since the academic session 2014-15 has introduced E-valuation system at +2 level as a solution to ensure an error free, transparent and responsible valuation system. However, the question remains, "whether E-valuation introduced by CHSC, Odisha has become successful in meeting its desired objective of avoiding the error prone traditional system of examination evaluation ? At this backdrop, the paper examines the effectiveness of E-solution, opportunity and challenges of the new tools, challenges faced by the examiners and its ramification over the student community and above all making an objective assessment of use of ICT in examination evaluation as a component to enrich quality in higher education.
