The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in India is not new but the term may be. Philosophers like Kautilya from India and pre-Christian era philosophers in the west preached and prompted ethical principles while doing businesses, that is the reason why the concept of (CSR) has been conceived well in today's research agendas (McWilliams et al. 2006). Businesses must reconnect company success with social progress. CSR is not social responsibility, philanthropy, or even sustainability, but a new way to achieve economic success. It is not on the margin of what companies do but at the center. We believe that it can give rise to the next major transformation of business thinking. In this paper, the issues of CSR are discussed with special reference to India. This study is based on the techniques of literature review ranging from 1953 to 2015 in order to obtain the inventive models on CSR practices in India.
