Abstract

Employee performance plays a vital role in success of any organization and organized retail sector is no exception. However, ever since organizations started to incorporate personality testing in their recruitment processes there has been reasonable doubt in terms of their true usefulness. The major objective in most research studies has been to investigate the potential relationship between the famous Five-Factor Model and overall job performance. More specifically, researchers have been motivated to discover the factual relationship among broad personality traits and psychological strength and their direct impact on job performance. For this purpose, a survey was conducted of the current Sales force working in organized retail sector located in Dehradun. A total of 86 valid data were collected and used for the analysis of this study and the results were as follows. Personality traits such as extraversion, neuroticism, openness had significant positive impacts on job performance and agreeableness, Consciousness had significant negative impact on job performance. It was also found that psychological strength serves as a mediator between personality and job performance in organized retail sector.
