Abstract

There are many factors which plays a key role in industrial transformation, trade promotion, economic growth and development of any region in the world. The development of maritime operations has been proven to be a major factor in the growth and development process. Accessibility has always been a major issue in global marketing, with the maritime industry playing a major role in cutting costs of transport. By developing Northern and Eastern gateways to the eastern and central region, it triggers the need for studies in developing maritime operations aiming at guaranteeing the success of the gateway project. As much as the hinterland development is necessary and decisive in the use of maritime transport as a stimulus for economic development, the development of ports, maritime policies and the integrated maritime logistics solution is also important and vital in the model. Researchers have come up with different models/policies to explain the necessity of models/policiesand they have been applied vastly in the maritime industry. However, most of the models explain sectoral trends and attempt to overcome the barriers posed by different factors in the trends. In this paper we shall exploit the advantages of the different models /policies of port development for enhancing integrated maritime logistics efficiency as a viable catalyst for the economic development of the Odisha.
