Studies on humour are one of the studies that are included in the arena of the rise of positive psychology in recent years and a shift from the past negative train of thought. Humour is considered omnipresent and is a multi-dimensional and complex concept that is mostly applied in psychology, education and mass communication. It adds to the excitement in the daily life, helps individuals address the everyday pressures and encourages personal appeal and interpersonal relationship. Workplace humour and organizational creativity are emerging areas of great interest to managers. In work environments where humour is shared openly, the culture tends to be one that encourages individuals to act naturally, and the outcome is a progressively solid and productive workforce. This calls for a need to understand more about the role of humour in enhancing ingenious performance in the workplace. Leaders in organizations are now expected to take greater responsibilities in the survival and development of their organizations. Hence in any organization, the most important and influential people are the leaders. Leaders are imperative to organizations. In addition to being responsible for the sustainable survival of the enterprises, they are at the helm of leading the whole team and bringing out higher performances. Studies uncover that regular use of humour by leaders at workplace was a successful way to stimulate or re-establish confidence and minimise emotional exhaustion and maximise employee well being. This study intends to explore the different styles of humour adopted by the leaders working in various departments of different organizations and find its association with employee wellbeing.
