Abstract

The Odisha state always has a sign in Textile Sector primarily in Handloom and Handicraft. The Handloom of Odisha is one of the oldest ways to earn income or bread amongst the people. It is remained always famous in preparing and producing World renowned products like “Katki saree” or “Maniabandhi Saree”, “Sambalpuri Saree”, Tassar Saree, various silk sarees, Bomkai Cotton, Tie-dye, “Gamchas”, glossy khanduas, Handicrafts and furnishing. The original weavers with their skilful combination of myths, faiths, symbols and imagery provide the fabric attractive enthusiasm. There are good no of studies have been made on handloom of Odisha, But no remarkable study has been done on the profitability handloom products of Maniabandha and Mahammadpur of Cuttack district of Odisha. So, this is as an attempt to study the profitability handloom products of Maniabandha and Mahammadpur of Cuttack district of Odisha and other handloom products of Odisha. The present study is based on both primary and secondary data. The primary data have been collected and presented through welldefined questionnaire from selected respondents of handloom weavers of Cuttack. The secondary data have been collected and tabulated from various secondary sources such as e-journal, e-magazine, annual reports, and handloom steering committee report. The collected data have been classified and tabulated as per the requirement of the study. There are various statistical tools like percentage calculations; mean, standard deviation; covariance and chi-square test have been used for analysis and interpretation of results. The study concluded that the handloom products of Maniabandha and Mahammadpur of district of Odisha have their unique profitability influence on the earnings of weavers.
