Abstract

Consumer Protection owes its development largely to consumerism, consumer movement and consumer policy prevailing in a society over a period of time. Consumerism is the driving social force behind every consumer movement, which leads to consumer awareness and consumer education with the objective of protecting consumers at the marketplace. Against such a backdrop, a modest attempt has been made to have a glimpse of the relationship existing between consumerism, consumer movement and consumer protection policy and the role they play in protection of consumer rights.
