Abstract

People with Disabilities (PwDs) face major challenges in terms of their employment across the globe. There are multiple factors responsible for their less participation in the workforce such as lack of exposure, talent skills gap, lack of education etc. However, it is observed that the main reason for their low employment in the workforce is lack of training and fulfilling the requirements, which are being expected from industries. The disability training and placement organizations play a pivotal role between the job seeker and job-provider. Previous studies (Bachani, 2014; Kote and Kulkarni, 2013; Gustaffson, 2012; Berry, 2012; Johnstone and others, 2019) have stated that if people with disabilities were given the right environment, PwDs can be equally productive, loyal and committed vis-a-vis their counterparts. The disability training and placement organizations work as an intermediary between the industries and PwDs and play multiple roles for their career development and growth. Sarthak Educational Trust, a Delhi based organization was founded by Mr. Jitendra Agrawal continuously bridging the gap and working relentlessly for the training and placements for people with disabilities. The case study explored the story of Sarthak and efforts undertaken by the organization. The work of Sarthak is inspiring and noble. The research study has used the published secondary sources and done the systematic review of published literature and sources for the study.
