Abstract

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) explains a company’s obligation to contribute to the welfare of society. The company’s obligations go beyond the legal and economic nature. Consequently, socially conscious company organisations perform their operations in a way that fulfils the needs of their stakeholders and the ethical, legal, philanthropic and economic desires of society. Transgender is one of the most oppressed communities in the world. They have found it extremely difficult to get skill training and jobs due to social taboos, customs and strong prejudices dominating families and workspaces. However, they are severely straggling in human development benchmarks and are extremely oppressed and vulnerable, particularly in employment and education. Livelihood limitations are a significant reason for transgender to look for self-employment and they find it difficult to fully engage in social, cultural, political and economic activities. The study was based on secondary data such as the national portal for transgender, a national portal of CSR, the CSR box census 2011, official websites, articles, journals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Socioeconomic conditions are associated with a style of living, income, occupation and livelihood. It is a matter of concern that gender-based abuse, particularly against the third gender, occurs everywhere in society. So recognising the statistics about the transgender community’s income, occupation and education will help to focus on the area that needs to be changed. This study will assist in eliminating gender-based social disparities with transgender in the social disparity. Moreover, the government and corporates will have better knowledge of the plight of the transgender community. The government will incorporate transgender in the policies and corporate will do more projects to empower the transgender community.
