Banks are the one of the major suppliers of money for business growth in any economy. This gives bank tremendous leverage over the business corporations. Accordingly, government and Reserve Bank of India plays an important role in banking sector governance. Globalization affected the banking sector in India. Consequently, private participation in banking sector, interest rate deregulations, competitive money markets etc. necessitated the focus on governance in banking sector. The present paper studies an overview of corporate governance in banking sector.
