Abstract

Of the many issues confronting human resources, one of the challenging ones includes fitting the right employee in the right position. When people do jobs that just do not suit their liking, inclination or temperament the result will be obviously low productivity, dissatisfaction, low morale, absenteeism and other negative behaviour will become typical till the employees are shown the door. Perhaps the other option here would beTalent Management. This paper attempts to explore the underlying concepts of talent management and its importance in the present knowledge-based economy on the basis of some recent surveys. It also emphasises the development of a competency framework, which enables the effective implementation of a talent management strategy in the workplace, which will be critical for the success of the organisation.
