This study attempted to examine the impact of human resource management (HRM) practices on HRM outcomes of women employees in the non-governmental organisation (NGO) sector of Assam, one of the north-eastern states of India. Research on HRM practices and their outcomes such as satisfaction of women employees, commitment and retention have rarely been conducted in the NGO sector. Data were collected on women employees’ perceptions about HRM practices and their outcomes. The findings of this study show that providing training to women employees is positively related to higher women employee satisfaction, women employee commitment and higher women employee retention. Results of regression analysis supported the hypotheses that performance evaluation is positively related to higher women employee satisfaction, commitment and retention in the NGO sector of Assam.
