Abstract

The present paper outlines the strategic role Human Resource Development (HRD) can play in creating a learning environment for successfully implementing a Knowledge Management (KM) System in an organisation. Its role in creating and sharing of knowledge across all levels of an organisation, which is so vital for its sustenance in the present global scenario, cannot be undermined. Also, the paper makes an attempt to develop a conceptual framework showing the linkage between HRD and KM – how they complement and supplement each other in leveraging the knowledge of intellectual assets of an organisation to maintain sustainable competitive advantage.
