Building engagement in the workplace for employee productivity: A conceptual review

Abstract

Managing employee productivity is one of the most important objectives for several organisations. Higher levels of Employee productivity lead to several benefits for both organisation and employee, that is, economic growth, increased profitability, good working conditions, wages/salaries and better employment opportunities. All the discussed and many other benefits have made employee productivity, a matter of importance. In the organisation, there are several factors that determine an employee's productivity, perhaps the most important is employee engagement towards organisational work and objectives. The purpose of this study is to understand how Employee Engagement will help organisations manage employee productivity and succeed in a complex competitive environment. The study aims to discuss about evolution and conceptual overview of employee engagement and how engagement is related to employee productivity and organisational benefits. The study also highlights about worldwide scenarios of employee engagement, what are different drivers of it and how it can be managed. Examples of corporates are also used to justify how engagement enhances employees’ productivity at work.
