Abstract

Tourism in India has become one of the major sectors of the economy. Since time immemorial, tourism has been regarded as the growth propeller contributing social, economical, cultural development; simultaneously became a source of foreign exchange earnings in many developing countries including India. The tremendous impact of tourism has made a ripple in many social fronts. It has the enormous capability to generate a large pool of employment having diverse nature from ground level to upper level. Hence, no doubt, the travel and tourism industry has become a constant source of contributing a large share to the gross domestic product of many developing nations. In this article, we have tried to bring out how responsible tourism plays an important role in tourism destinations of Kerala.
