Job Satisfaction and Its Impact on the Performance of Higher Education Teachers

Abstract

Higher education is an integral part of every society’s growth. The job satisfaction of the teachers who serve in higher education is crucial to the progress of the institution. Teachers in higher education’s emotional, affective, and behavioral reactions have an effect on their instructional and research practice, as well as the performance of the students, organizations, and the whole culture. The objective of HRM operations is to accomplish the organizational strategies while also ensuring employee happiness. In higher education, HRM’s function is to incorporate appropriate approaches for applicant recruiting and selection, employee preparation and advancement, and compensation systems that consider externals well as internal fairness to improve job satisfaction. Based on a literature review, this paper aims to present the key reasons of teacher’s job satisfaction in higher education, as well as useful interventions and HRM strategies for increasing employee satisfaction in higher education.
