Abstract

This research analyses the key function of Discrete Mathematics with respect to the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) and its relevance to modern Computer Science education. It traces the historical achievements of ancient scholars, including their efforts in number theory, algebra, and logical reasoning, which laid the foundation for key concepts in Discrete Mathematics. By integrating these historical insights with modern computational thinking, the paper examines how concepts like set theory, graph theory, logic theory and combinatorics from IKS have direct applications in today’s computational models. The paper further discusses how ancient Indian mathematical systems, such as Vedic Mathematics, align with modern-day algorithms, cryptography, and network theory. Through this analysis, the paper emphasises the relevance of blending systems of knowledge with contemporary technology to foster innovative problem-solving approaches. In doing so, it advocates for the fusion of ancient Indian wisdom of IKS into modern computer science curricula to enhance both practical and theoretical aspects of Discrete Mathematics and Computational Science.
