Abstract

The rapid expansion of the Information Technology (IT) sector has led to unimaginable professional demands, often resulting in physical and emotional imbalance among IT professionals. Prolonged sitting, irregular routines, continuous screen exposure, and high-pressure work environments contribute to postural deformities, reduced vitality, and emotional imbalance. This review explores the potential of Yoga, particularly Hath Yoga, as a preventive and restorative discipline rooted in the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), to address these emerging concerns. IKS, a repository of time-tested wisdom, offers a holistic approach to human well-being through integrated practices that align the body, breath, and mind. Hath Yoga, with its focus on physical postures (asanas), breath awareness (pranayama), and inner discipline, is especially relevant for modern professionals seeking stability, flexibility, and clarity. Drawing from classical texts and contemporary evidence, this study highlights how regular practice of Hath Yoga can help IT professionals prevent physical deformities, maintain musculoskeletal harmony, and enhance emotional health. The study emphasizes the need to reintegrate indigenous wellness practices within modern professional life, promoting a balanced and sustainable work culture. By embedding the principles of Yoga from IKS into corporate and personal routines, IT professionals can cultivate resilience, improve focus, and support long-term well-being in a high-tech world.
